An elegant monochrome version of the ultra-thin Daniel Roth model.
In the past three years, the revived Daniel Roth brand has released several models. Three of these are tourbillon models with cases in yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. Another two are ultra-thin two-hand models in yellow and rose gold cases (also available as a skeleton version). Following the example of the previously released tourbillon, this year’s two-hand model is also available in platinum.
The monochrome color scheme lends the watch a more restrained and refined look. Otherwise, the specifications remain the same. The signature double ellipse case measures 38.6 x 35.5 mm.
The case thickness is 7.7 mm, slightly more than the original Extra Plat Automatic Ref. C107 model that inspired this watch. The case is fitted with sapphire crystals on both sides.
The cool hue of the platinum perfectly complements the gray dial, adorned with a guilloché pattern of fine vertical grooves. This classic decorative technique, once employed by Daniel Roth himself, is now utilized by the specialists at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, under whose patronage the brand is developing. The silvered hour scale with black Roman numerals is made of gold.
Visible through the sapphire case back is the DR002 caliber - a manually wound movement developed by Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, heads of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. With thoroughly modern characteristics (a 4 Hz balance frequency, a freely suspended balance wheel, and a 65-hour power reserve), the movement's finishing adheres to the finest traditions of old school craftsmanship.
The watch is offered on a light brown leather strap. Its production will be limited, not by a strict number of pieces, but by the production capacity of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
The estimated cost of the model, excluding taxes, is CHF 65,000.
