Panerai has introduced a new model in the Submersible dive watch collection. Unlike the new Luminor models presented by the brand at Watches & Wonders, this watch does not follow a vintage course. On the contrary, the design of the model is distinctly modern.

The watch features a titanium case with a diameter of 47 mm, manufactured using high-tech 3D printing technology. The technology, called Titanium DMLS, involves direct laser sintering and layer-by-layer creation of metal based on Grade 5 titanium powder.

This approach significantly reduces the weight of the metal while maintaining its strength. As a result, DMLS titanium is approximately 25% lighter than regular titanium and more than 50% lighter than steel, given the same construction. Add to this its high corrosion resistance, and you have an excellent material for ultra-modern watches.

The dial is based on a mesh structure that creates the illusion that the elements of the open mechanism are almost floating in the air. The internal bezel holds large hour markers, which are complemented by similarly styled luminous hands. The picture is completed by a seconds hand with an AM-PM indicator at the '9 o'clock' position, a GMT hand, and a patented polarized date pointer.

The model is powered by the P.4001/S caliber - an automatic movement equipped with a tungsten micro-rotor. The GMT hand in this movement moves in 1-hour increments, making the setting of the second time zone quick and intuitive. The caliber also features a system that resets the second hand to the starting position when the crown is pulled out. The power reserve is sufficient for 3 days. You can monitor the energy level in the mechanism using the indicator on the back of the watch.

Since these are dive watches, it is important to note the key characteristics for this category of models. The new model is equipped with a dark blue bezel made of matte ceramic. It rotates, as it should, only in one direction. The water resistance of the case is 500 meters.

The watch comes with a blue rubber strap. The set also includes a two-component black strap. The new model will be available exclusively in Panerai boutiques starting in May. The estimated cost of the model (including taxes) is €49,000.
