In its latest work, the brand has turned its attention to the world of firearms, reimagining its core offering with aesthetic elements drawn from various types of weapons. These elements are skillfully integrated into the original SevenFriday design, complementing the overall look without overtly stating their presence.
The new SevenFriday P2C/01 model is a truly beautiful new colorway of one of the brand's cornerstone designs, going beyond the initial inspiration and appealing to both gun owners and non-owners alike.
The stylistic makeover of the P2C/01 from SevenFriday begins with its rounded-square case measuring 47.6 mm by 47 mm without lugs. While the bold case shape should be familiar to enthusiasts, SevenFriday adds several additional layers of nuance to this stainless steel case with a new finish. The smooth bezel is coated with a classic dark gray gunmetal PVD finish, featuring concentric sunray segments and polished segments separated by a black lacquered groove.
Combined with the grained matte black color of the high sides of the case, these tones and finishes create a sense of gloom and determination in the photos, reminiscent of the most common finishes of modern firearms. The polished stainless steel case back adds bright visual accents to this combination and contains the brand's signature ornate specification engraving, as well as an embedded NFC chip for digital authentication and easy pairing with the SevenFriday app. Despite the bold and sporty connotations, the water resistance of the P2C/01 model is a mere 30 meters.
In typical SevenFriday fashion, the dial of the P2C/01, designed in an open-heart style, features a variety of textures and layers, resulting in a cohesive and beautiful appearance even in initial images. Like the case, the dial of the P2C/01 subtly hints at its firearms inspiration with touches like the brass tone used for the azure outer minute ring and the new two-layer small seconds subdial at the 5 o'clock position, meant to convey the color and metallic sheen of pistol cartridge casings. Three applied hour indices at the 12 o'clock, 4 o'clock, and 8 o'clock positions continue this theme, with their tall wedge-shaped design inspired by modern luminous iron sights.
Rather than using the rest of the dial as a space for a literal visual translation of the firearms theme, these elements are surrounded by a multitude of layers and textures that help deepen the purposeful industrial perception. The gunmetal PVD case finish reappears in the sculptural accent ring of the watch, and SevenFriday highlights the predominantly dark color scheme with the use of mother-of-pearl, matte steel, and silvery metallic. However, like many other SevenFriday models, the P2C/01 somewhat suffers in terms of legibility due to its short and wide main tube.
SevenFriday equips the P2C/01 model with a Miyota 82S7 automatic movement. Apart from the open heart window and the 24-hour hand at the 9 o'clock position, the 82S7 is a relatively standard offering for Miyota, with a decent 42-hour power reserve at a frequency of 21,600 beats per second.
However, the nominal accuracy of the 82S7 leaves much to be desired, as Miyota itself states that the factory accuracy is only -20/+40 seconds per day. To complete the look, SevenFriday includes a deep walnut-brown layered leather strap with the P2C/01 model, which beautifully complements the dark color scheme of the images and resembles the dark wood handles of modern revolvers.
