In 2019, Nodus created the Sector series to prove that a well-designed case can suit an almost endless variety of different watches.

Over time, the Sector collection gradually expanded both in model variety and functional capabilities. After receiving an order from a secret military unit for watches with individual technical specifications, Nodus decided to include some updates in the model available to the general public. Based on the most robust model with a compass bezel and GMT function, the Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer was created - the most reliable and feature-rich model from the Los Angeles-based brand.

History and Development of the Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer Model
The Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer debuted last year, in 2025, and was initially available in two color options: black (Forge) and blue (Admiral). However, in January 2026, the series was expanded with the Ranger version presented here - featuring a green dial with a vertical gradient effect. The original model, created for the secret military unit, also had a green dial. Although the Ranger version is not an exact copy of the military model, it is the closest among all publicly available options.

Case Design and Materials
The design of the Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer is based on the Sector Deep diving watch, and in terms of materials and assembly, both models are practically identical. The case is made of 316L stainless steel with a matte sandblasted finish, measuring 38 mm in diameter and 13.6 mm in thickness. The lug width is 20 mm, and the overall "lug-to-lug" length is 47 mm. The black DLC-coated bezel has an outer diameter of 42 mm, ensuring a secure grip and visually increasing the size of the watch compared to other models with similar case parameters.

Dial Features and Protection
Like the standard three-hand Sector Deep model, the Pioneer version with GMT is equipped with a robust flat sapphire crystal with a slight edge curve and an internal blue anti-reflective coating.

The case back is solid with a screw-down attachment. Unlike the traditional crown position at "3 o'clock," in the Sector Deep series, it is shifted to "9 o'clock" in a left-handed (destro) configuration. This reduces the risk of snagging or damaging the crown during active use.

Functionality and Water Resistance
The crown, like the bezel, is coated with matte black DLC. The model's water resistance is an impressive 500 meters - a feature characteristic of the three-hand Sector Deep diver's watches. The Pioneer bezel rotates unidirectionally with a precise 120-click movement. A unique feature is the bezel's compass markings instead of a 12-hour scale, which expands the model's functionality. The dial additionally features a 24-hour scale and a skeletonized GMT hand for tracking a second time zone.

Dial Design and Lume
The Ranger version's dial features a vertical gradient from light green to dark green. The date window is positioned at "6 o'clock" and has a calendar disc perfectly matching the dial color. The shape of the hands and hour markers is carried over from the three-hand Sector Deep model.

The Ranger color scheme includes yellow accents on the 24-hour hand and the "Pioneer" inscription, which harmoniously complement the green tones. Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 high-grade lume is used for illumination. All hands and applied markers are lumed, including the 24-hour marks on the dial, the bezel scale, and even the numbers on the date disc, which glow blue in the dark.

Inside the Nodus Sector Deep Pioneer is the automatic TMI (Seiko) NH34 caliber with a "caller-style" GMT function, allowing independent adjustment of the date and 24-hour hand. The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) with a 41-hour power reserve. The caliber has 24 jewels and is anti-magnetic up to 4800 A/m. Nodus performs in-house accuracy regulation, achieving a deviation of +/-10 seconds per day. For reliable tool watches with multifunctionality, the "caller-style" GMT movement is an optimal choice.

Bracelet and Usability
The watch comes with a three-link stainless steel bracelet with a matte sandblasted finish matching the case. The links are secured with single-sided screws.

Despite the presence of holes in the lugs, the bracelet is equipped with integrated quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes without tools. The outer edges of the links lack chamfers, as seen in more expensive Nodus models (Duality II, Contrail GMT), but the clasp is identical in construction and features the Nodus Extension Module (NEM) system with four tool-free adjustment positions.

Conclusion and Positioning in the Lineup
The Sector Deep model was initially created to showcase the capabilities of the versatile Sector case, being more robust and utilitarian compared to other watches in the series. With reinforced crystal and case back, the Sector Deep withstands five times the water pressure of other collection models, such as the Sector GMT and Sector II Field Titanium. The Sector Deep Pioneer expands the functionality of the three-hand diver's watch without sacrificing durability, legibility, and water resistance.

Despite maximum reliability and feature richness, the Sector Deep Pioneer remains an accessible model within the Sector series. Although it is more expensive than the brand's entry-level models, it can be considered in the mid-price segment of Nodus's catalog. Regardless of the color variant, the official retail price is $625, which is a fair cost for a GMT tool watch with 500-meter water resistance, designed and assembled in the USA.
