The monolithic G-Shock line from Casio has established itself as one of the most vibrant players in the current watch industry's trend of wild colors. Across nearly every brand tier, from $100 entry-level models to luxurious examples of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, the G-Shock series offers bold and diverse color solutions that set it apart from more conservative competitors. The high-end MT-G series has traditionally been one of the brand's most intricate platforms for color and finish, and the latest Casio model may be the most vibrant chromatic model to date. The new limited edition Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix is inspired by Chinese mythology with its striking gradient ion plating and the brand's legendary durability.
The case of the Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix, made from stainless steel and carbon, measures 51 mm by 55.1 mm and captures attention. In recent years, Casio has specialized in ion plating, creating a wide range of shades, including kaleidoscopic rainbow gradient patterns. The rainbow plating used in the Blue Phoenix model is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in the brand's collection: a cascading spectrum of shades on the complex angular integrated bracelet forms transitions from rich cobalt blue to deep purple, orange, and fiery yellow.
Due to the complex multi-layered process used to apply the color gradient, Casio claims that no two cases are alike, and each individual model has a slightly different pattern. The brand emphasizes this complex color spectrum with gold ion plating on the bezel screws, crown, and buttons, highlighting luxury and complexity in the initial images and softening the appearance with relatively muted color. The watch case features a complex combination of matte and polished surfaces, which emphasizes the multifaceted design, making the already noticeable design even more attractive.
Like other models in the MT-G line, Casio has equipped the Blue Phoenix with the Carbon Core Guard system, protecting the quartz movement inside the central carbon chassis covered with stainless steel case layers. Despite this multi-component case solution, the Blue Phoenix still boasts the G-Shock line's signature 200-meter water resistance.

Casio repeats the wide spectrum of case colors in the dial of the G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix, bringing an astonishing variety of shades to the futuristic design. Pale pink, lime green, sunny yellow, rich red, and vibrant orange add spice to the predominantly blue-black dial design, and in true G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix fashion, an astounding number of complications are packed into the set of four subdials. These complications include day/date indication, a 24-hour chronograph, a 24-hour countdown timer, second time zone indication, a 24-hour dual time indicator, and a daily alarm. Like the case, the Blue Phoenix dial highlights the complexity of the finishing used in the MT-G line. The coatings range from matte to aggressive brushing, combed stripes, bead blasting, polished bevels, and azurage.

Like previous versions of the MTGB2000 line, the Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix is powered by an in-house quartz movement. In addition to the previously mentioned complications, this movement also includes a dual-coil motor for the hands, allowing the watch to quickly move away from the respective complications or adjust to new time zones. It also features Tough Solar charging technology, as well as the radio-controlled Multiband 6 atomic chronometer and Bluetooth for additional telemetry and easy setup via the G-Shock Connected app. Casio claims a battery life of 29 months after a full solar charge. To complete the Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix model, the brand equips the watch with a signature deep translucent dark blue resin strap with a ribbed texture.

The limited edition Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix, crafted with bold color schemes with ion plating and an abundance of high-end finishes, offers a theatrical look at the stylistic tools used to create Casio's more expensive offerings. Although the G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix model is released as a limited edition, Casio has not specified the exact number of units to be produced.
The Casio G-Shock MT-G MTGB2000PH2A Blue Phoenix watches will be available from select authorized G-Shock dealers, at the G-Shock Soho Store, and on the brand's online platform in June 2021 for a price of 1100 USD.
