The Patek Philippe 5930 World Time Chronograph was first introduced in 2016, inspired by a unique 1940s watch. It combines the practicality of a chronograph and a world timer. Now, these two iconic complications in Patek's repertoire are presented in an updated platinum version with a green color. This is the Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph 5930P.
When the Patek Philippe 5930G World Time Chronograph was introduced 5 years ago, we were very impressed by its elegance. Clad in white gold with a blue dial, it represented everything you would expect from the House in a travel chronograph and more - with a touch of modernity.
Patek Philippe decided it was time for the white gold 5930G model to be joined by its platinum sibling, the 5930P. The case remains the same, but is now, of course, made of platinum, as indicated by the diamond between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position. The case still has a fairly modest diameter of 39.5 mm and a height of 12.86 mm, which is quite impressive for such a complex watch. The case is equipped with three buttons around the strap: two for the chronograph reset and one for the world timer indication.
The soft blue dial has been replaced by a brighter and, dare I say, fashionable green. The hand-applied circular guilloche pattern is extremely sophisticated and complemented by applied gold hour markers. The central Dauphine-style hour and minute hands are complemented by the chronograph's second hand. The 30-minute chronograph counter is located on the lower half of the green central section.
Moving a step further, we find a two-tone day/night and 24-hour indication ring. Between this ring and the outer city ring is a black-and-white chronograph-second track. Finally, on the outer ring, all 24 time zones are marked in green with their corresponding cities.
The Patek Philippe 5930P World Time Chronograph is powered by the CH 28-250 HU caliber. This in-house flyback chronograph movement with world time function consists of 343 components, including 33 jewels, and has a diameter of 33 mm and a height of 7.97 mm. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph and provides a power reserve of 50 to 55 hours. The movement, topped with a 21-carat gold rotor, can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back.
The Patek Philippe World-Time Chronograph 5930P-001 is worn on a glossy, bottle-green alligator leather strap with a platinum folding clasp. It retails for 87,500 euros.
