Key Takeaways

  • The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 features a high-quality polished case and a distinctive convex dial.
  • Equipped with the Oris 401 caliber, it offers a 10-year warranty and 120-hour power reserve.
  • Limited to 250 pieces, the model is priced at €3800 / $4600 and comes with a unique design.

Oris unveiled the annual Hölstein Edition model on June 1st.

Unfortunately, the brand used renders for the presentation, and their quality left much to be desired. However, the accompanying press release with detailed information about the watch convinced me that this novelty truly deserves attention. Oris provided the opportunity to personally examine the Hölstein Edition 2026 to appreciate it in vivo. And, honestly, they are difficult to capture correctly in photos. Nevertheless, in reality, they look significantly better than in the widespread renders.

Design and Features of Oris Hölstein Edition 2026

The high polished case, gray dial, and polished sub-dial at the “6 o’clock” position immediately signal that this is not the simplest object for photography. Nonetheless, these details, which usually do not make it onto my list of requirements for watches, perfectly combine in the Oris Hölstein Edition 2026. The model is based on the Artelier collection but contains neat Bauhaus-style elements designed by Oris' in-house designer Lena Huwiler, as I mentioned in the introductory article.

Convex Dial

Besides the case design, one of the key features of the new model is the convex dial. The light gray dial mirrors the contours of the case and sapphire crystal. It features beautiful faceted applied hour markers, with no printing except for the brand name and “Swiss Made” label. The dial is maximally clean, and the polished sub-dial creates an excellent contrast when light hits it. For clarity, I attached wrist-shot photos taken in sunlight, despite reflections on the glass.

Artelier Collection and Model Distinctions

The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 is a very elegant watch, noticeably different from the standard Artelier collection. The lineup includes two models with similar elements - Artelier Complication and Artelier Date, both with white dials. However, the Hölstein Edition 2026 differs with a more concise dial layout and adds an accent in the form of a red hand on the additional seconds sub-dial. Furthermore, due to the use of the Oris 401 caliber, this model is significantly more expensive than the Complication and Date.

Caliber and 10-Year Warranty

The caliber 401 is an anti-magnetic movement with a power reserve of 120 hours. Oris guarantees an average accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day, which meets chronometer standards. Additionally, after registration on the MyOris platform, owners receive a 10-year warranty on the movement. It is recommended to conduct servicing every 10 years. In the Hölstein Edition 2026 model, the movement is hidden behind a polished case back.

The case back features the Oris mascot - a bear. Although I do not have a particular fondness for this symbol, it does not repel me. However, my daughter loves the Oris bear and collects branded souvenirs - a keychain, sweater, and mug featuring the Hölstein bear. Also, the case back is engraved with the unique number of each of the 250 pieces in the limited series, which likely influenced the price.

Wearing and Comfort

The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 is a pleasant watch to wear. It is the first Hölstein Edition since 2020 that can be considered a wristwatch for official events or simply as an elegant watch. They are perfectly suitable for daily use and can serve as classic watches. The model does not have high water resistance and luminescent markers, but this does not prevent me from wearing it regularly. I do not swim with watches and do not need dial illumination at night. If you are looking for a versatile watch for any condition (GADA - go anywhere, do anything), this model is not for you. For such purposes, Oris offers other models, but the Hölstein Edition 2026 will perfectly complement a collection.

Optimal Sizes

The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 is unique among my watches, but I could easily choose it due to the comfortable design and fit on the wrist. The diameter of 39.5 mm and lug-to-lug length of 45.5 mm ensure comfort and compatibility with almost any clothing style. The proportions are perfectly matched: the thin case profile of 11.1 mm harmonizes with the diameter. The suede strap differs from what was expected from the renders - it is soft and pleasant to the touch, and the dark gray-brown color perfectly complements the light gray dial. The strap is equipped with a folding clasp signed by Oris and buttons for opening.

Readability and Interaction with Light

Luminescent hands remain visible in low light conditions, but the lack of lume on the hour markers and dial makes it difficult to determine the exact time in the dark. Like the polished applied markers, the sub-dial beautifully interacts with the light, making the watch interesting to wear. The polished, elegantly designed case and lugs create a harmonious appearance. Special thanks to the Oris designer for creating a playful and noticeably different model compared to previous Hölstein Editions.

Final Impressions

Usually, I am more inclined towards the Oris Divers Sixty-Five and Big Crown models, but this year's Artelier collection watch truly meets several important criteria. Especially considering the price below €2000, Oris offers attractive and elegant watches. The limited Hölstein Edition 2026 is complemented by the proprietary 401 movement with the listed advantages, as well as a special dial and case back that distinguish it from the main collection.

Final packaging of Oris Hölstein Edition 2026

The annual launch of the Oris Hölstein Edition series is a kind of celebration, and in my opinion, the brand somewhat missed the mark by not preparing quality photos of the watch for the presentation. Nevertheless, the model itself was a pleasant surprise when unpacked in the office. These are stylish and elegant watches that will surely find their fans among the 250 lucky owners.
