Mauron Musy is a brand that has significantly changed by 2026 compared to how I knew it about five years ago.
Today, the company is more developed, producing more components in-house and has an investor from the USA who aims to increase the brand's recognition and prestige in America and other regions worldwide. Mauron Musy now offers not just watches but an entire experience and special relationship with the customer. Although many Swiss luxury watches today are just one of many quality products on the market, Mauron Musy emphasizes its originality and technical craftsmanship, focusing on value and customer engagement. In this review, I will detail the company's new platform - the Mauron Musy NODE° model (or simply Node), which is in many ways a logical continuation of the Skeleton Armure collection I wrote about in 2021.
Concept and Features of the Mauron Musy Node Collection
The Node collection is designed to address several tasks simultaneously. Firstly, the new case is reduced from 44 mm to 41 mm while maintaining the classic shape and unique "nO-Ring" technology developed by Mauron Musy. More about the technology below. Secondly, Node has become the brand's first model with a detachable metal bracelet, whereas previous watches were only released on straps. Finally, Node is equipped with a new automatic movement featuring the proprietary Swiss Calibre MM03. All available Node models are made of titanium with a matching bracelet. Three dial color options are available, with the brand offering custom versions with unique finishes and colors upon request.
nO-Ring Technology: Innovations in Waterproofing Without Seals
One of the main advantages of Mauron Musy is attention to detail and technical innovation. I was particularly attracted to cases with 200-meter water resistance that do not require the use of sealing rings and gaskets. The case construction is an example of the "form follows function" principle: thanks to special technologies and very precise fitting of parts, a hermetic seal is created between the titanium elements without traditional rubber seals. This is important because over time gaskets wear out and lose their seal, reducing waterproofing and protection from external influences. The absence of seals allows Mauron Musy to guarantee the durability of the case without the need for frequent servicing. At the same time, the case shape is not only functional but also aesthetically appealing, which is especially important for collectors who value practicality and design sophistication.
Materials and Finish: Titanium Case and Bracelet
In the Node model, the nO-Ring technology is successfully implemented in the reduced 41-millimeter case. The case and bracelet are made from polished and satin-finished Grade 5 titanium. The metal finish is done with great attention and a high level of craftsmanship, noticeable upon visual inspection. Unlike some Japanese brands, Mauron Musy does not use protective coatings for titanium, so the material remains susceptible to scratches. Nonetheless, given that most of the metal processing and assembly occurs in-house, the high precision of manufacturing and quality of finish justify the price and highlight the product's uniqueness.
Dial and Brand Details: "Swiss Crafted" and Symbolism
The Node dial, like other Mauron Musy models, is adorned with the "Swiss Crafted" inscription. This designation differs from the more common "Swiss Made" and emphasizes that the company performs almost all production stages in Switzerland. Even components purchased from suppliers come from Swiss manufacturers located near the factory. "Swiss Crafted" is a higher level of luxury marking, reflecting the rich traditions of Swiss watchmaking and craftsmanship. Another characteristic detail is the double "μμ" (mu) symbol, which serves as an additional brand logo. This sign symbolizes "small/micro" and "precision," reflecting Mauron Musy's philosophy and its commitment to precision and intellectual design solutions.
Calibre MM03 Movement: Proprietary Development with Micro-Rotor
Creating the fully proprietary Calibre MM03 movement took Mauron Musy about 13 years. This automatic caliber with a micro-rotor replaced the La Joux-Perret movements, which were used in earlier and often more affordable brand models. All MM03 parts are produced in-house and by local Swiss suppliers. The movement is partially open for viewing on the dial and case back, where classic elements combine with skeletonized sections. The wheels and gears are well visible and easily perceived, adding aesthetic and technical interest. The double-bridge balance stands out - an architectural solution that gives the dial dynamism and resemblance to Greubel Forsey watches.
Mauron Musy has stated that production models of Node will have a gold rotor instead of the trial version I saw in the pre-production version. The case back is adorned with a "neural network" graphic pattern, which the brand considers a platform for further artistic development. The MM03 movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and has a power reserve of about 96 hours (four days). Despite the higher cost of the proprietary caliber compared to modified La Joux-Perret, MM03 stands out for its uniqueness, attractive design, and compactness, allowing the case size to be reduced to 41 mm with a thickness of 13 mm and a lug-to-lug length of about 46 mm. The dial and case back are protected by flat sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating.
Limitations and Development Prospects: Case Materials and Comfort
The nO-Ring technology requires very precise processing, which is currently possible only with titanium. Steel and probably gold cannot be processed with the necessary tolerances to ensure sealing without gaskets. Therefore, all Mauron Musy models are traditionally made of titanium. The company is working on expanding the range of materials, but for now, titanium remains the optimal choice due to its lightness, aesthetics, and popularity in the premium watch segment.
While the 44-millimeter Mauron Musy cases did not cause me discomfort, the 41-millimeter Node proved especially comfortable and versatile for different wrist sizes. The bracelet tapers towards the clasp and is distinguished by a high level of comfort and visual appeal. Even though the bracelet is manufactured by another Swiss supplier, the finishing and polishing are done within Mauron Musy. The butterfly clasp is also made of titanium but lacks micro-adjustment, which may be a drawback for some users.
Color Variants and Availability: Rarity and Prospects
The MU09-103 model with a "Sunburst Blue" dial pairs effectively with the gray-silver titanium. Besides it, light gray and dark gray colors are available, with more options expected in the future. Mauron Musy's production remains limited - about 300 watches per year, making the products rare and exclusive. A more affordable version of Node on a rubber or leather strap is also in development. The company acknowledges the high cost of creating a "Swiss Crafted" product but is confident in the competitiveness of its model. On a strap, the watch will be significantly cheaper than on a titanium bracelet.
