The return of a striking model with a rare rectangular case for A. Lange & Söhne.

A. Lange & Söhne has brought back one of its most recognizable models. The Cabaret watch with a rectangular case was reintroduced this spring in the brand's proprietary Honeygold alloy.

Almost all models in the modern history of A. Lange & Söhne have featured a round case. Exceptions include the Arkade model and the Cabaret watch, first introduced in 1997. The technical pinnacle of these watches was reached in 2008 with the introduction of the Cabaret Tourbillon model. These were the first wristwatches with a tourbillon equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism, allowing for precise time setting. For a long time, it was believed that combining these functions in a watch was impossible.

The watches were discontinued in 2013, but in 2021, they made a comeback when A. Lange & Söhne released the Cabaret Tourbillon Handwerkskunst with a platinum case. The current reincarnation of these striking Art Deco-style watches will appeal to those who prefer a warmer visual. A. Lange & Söhne traditionally uses the Honeygold alloy in limited and premium models.

The case of the new model faithfully reproduces the proportions of the original Cabaret model. It features a curved profile, a stepped bezel, and slightly enlarged sculptural lugs. The model measures 29.5 x 39.2 x 10.3 mm. Sapphire crystals are fitted on both sides of the watch. Water resistance is 30 meters.

Like the case, the watch's dial is made from the Honeygold alloy, adorned with engraving and treated to give a grainy texture. It consists of three elements: the main dial and two additional indicators - the seconds hand and the power reserve indicator. All functional elements, scales, frames, and inscriptions are also crafted from Honeygold.

The matte base of the dial is created by a dark rhodium coating - it serves as a contrasting background for the relief gold details. An aperture at the 6 o'clock mark reveals the tourbillon. The upper bridge and tourbillon carriage are polished in such a way that at certain angles the metal reflects light like a mirror, while at others it appears black.

The model is powered by the L042.1 caliber with manual winding, whose shape matches the case shape. It consists of 370 components, including 84 tourbillon parts. Other features include a proprietary balance spring, a balance frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vph), and a power reserve of 120 hours.

The finishing of the movement is, as always, executed at the highest level. It includes all the elements fans of the brand are accustomed to: Saxon waves, anglage, gold chatons, blued screws, mirror polishing, and hand-engraved balance bridges.

The watch is offered on a dark brown alligator leather strap. The release is limited to a series of 50 pieces. Price is available upon request.
