Early cautious steps give way to more deliberate, confident, and ultimately ambitious actions. The British brand Beaucroft from Cambridge is currently at this stage. Their latest release is the brand's first model with a complication, entering the GMT watch market. Although it could be called "just a GMT," Beaucroft watches have never been solely about technical complications; the focus is on craftsmanship, and in this, the brand has already established itself as a reliable manufacturer.

Design and Case of Beaucroft Contour GMT

At first glance, the Contour GMT looks very similar to other Beaucroft models, such as the well-established Element, but with some changes in proportions. The Element has always been known for its comfortable fit on the wrist, and it's pleasing to see that the Contour's 316L stainless steel case has retained the 39.5 mm diameter. The case thickness has increased by only 0.9 mm - from 11.7 mm to 12.6 mm, which is still quite acceptable. An important parameter - the lug-to-lug distance - remains the same at 46.5 mm, which greatly determines comfort during wear.

The steel case features a noticeably clean finish, likely due to a scratch-resistant coating with a hardness of about 1200–1300 Vickers. This coating keeps the combination of polished, satin, and matte surfaces in perfect condition and gives the case a special, somewhat unusual light reflection. The front sapphire "box" crystal ensures water resistance up to 100 meters and is equipped with a three-layer anti-reflective coating, guaranteeing excellent dial readability in daylight. All these details confirm that the Contour GMT is a reliable tool watch, capable of withstanding daily stresses.

Dial Features and Hand Design

Looking at other Beaucroft models, you can notice a special attention to dial work, and there's a simple explanation for this - they are truly impressive. The Contour GMT is presented with a bright dial in Tropical Teal shade. Although Beaucroft has used similar shades in the past, this one stands out with a deeper color and several important changes. Firstly, the brand has abandoned the traditional solid GMT design, making the model more "mature" and restrained - for those who do not want to flaunt their passion for travel.

The GMT ring is almost imperceptibly located around the central sunburst dial, allowing for a shorter GMT hand than usual. Moreover, the ring is not divided into day and night zones, making it less conspicuous, yet it has a textured relief - an interesting design decision.

The dial is filled with high-quality details: rhodium-plated, diamond-cut hands with a curved shape reminiscent of classic cathedral style. The outer ring of the dial with polished applied hour markers is a separate plate placed on top, adding volume and creating an effect of interesting reflections and shadows depending on the angle of lighting. As a result, the dial looks clean, bright, and easy to read, without distracting elements like date windows. And although only one color is presented, the teal shade becomes the real highlight of the model.

Movement and Technical Specifications

Under the dial is the automatic Miyota calibre 9075 - a true GMT calibre, allowing the GMT hand to be set independently. The movement contains 24 jewels and is regulated at the Miyota factory, ensuring accuracy of ±10 seconds per day. The balance frequency is 28,800 vibrations per hour, and the power reserve is about 42 hours, which is quite sufficient for daily wear over several consecutive days. Although the movement is not particularly decorative, it is hidden behind a solid screw-down case back, adorned with Beaucroft's engraved motif.

Bracelet and Wearing Comfort

The case is complemented by a three-link 316L stainless steel bracelet with the same scratch-resistant coating as the case, which will maintain an attractive appearance even at the folding clasp. The clasp is equipped with a reliable micro-adjustment system, allowing the watch to be perfectly fitted to the wrist - an important advantage in this price category. Additionally, the bracelet is easily removable thanks to quick-release spring bars, making the Contour GMT compatible with a wide range of Beaucroft straps.
