Only Watch is a biennial charity auction of luxury watches organized by the finest watchmakers to fund research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For 2021 and its ninth consecutive participation in the charity auction, Jaquet Droz has created a stunning version of one of its most iconic watches. Based on the recently released Grande Seconde Skelet-One, it is enhanced with a tourbillon regulator and a magnificent plique-à-jour enamel layout revealing part of the mechanism.

Introduced in 2018, the Jaquet Droz Skelet-One added a strong modern touch to the signature Grande Seconde collection. These architecturally skeletonized watches brought the model into contemporary, relevant territory. On the occasion of Only Watch 2021, the brand presents a truly exceptional version of the model. The movement is regulated by a one-minute flying tourbillon, a novelty for these openworked watches. Without an upper bridge to hold it, the tourbillon appears to float at the heart of the magnificent architectural movement. Made of titanium, the cage was lightened to optimize chronometric performance. The balance spring and pallet horns are made of silicon. The power reserve of this automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, is 7 days when fully wound.

To further embellish this magnificent unique piece, Jaquet Droz engaged its ateliers d'art to create plique-à-jour enamel. The striking dial composition consists of cells of different colors and shapes. With beautiful and varied colors passing through the light, it resembles a stained glass window. Each tone of enamel was carefully selected and fired several times before the final polishing. When turning the watch over, one can notice that the gold rotor is fully skeletonized to emphasize the transparency of the mechanism.

The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Tourbillon Only Watch 2021 is presented in a 41mm pink gold case. The watch is worn on an alligator leather strap with rolled edges and a pink gold folding clasp. In times of mass production of everything, this beautiful piece of art is undoubtedly one of the hidden gems of Only Watch 2021! The estimate is between 160,000 to 200,000 Swiss Francs.
