Key Takeaways

  • H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Centre Seconds introduces new Purple Haze model.
  • The watch retains its sleek ergonomic design with updated aesthetic features.
  • Features the new automatic caliber HMC 201 with enhanced viewing details.

The Streamliner collection from Moser - luxurious sports watches with an integrated bracelet - made a loud debut in 2020 with the Flyback chronograph.

Unlike many luxury sports watches that vie for attention with generic solutions, Moser's design was fresh, bordering on sensuality, thanks to its sleek, aerodynamic individuality. A few months later, Moser introduced a simpler model with the Streamliner Centre Seconds movement, featuring a captivating Matrix Green fumé dial, dubbed the “green dragon” by collectors. Despite the huge demand for the Matrix Green model (as well as the quirky Smoked Salmon model), Moser took a pause to refine some aesthetic features of the watch, aimed at enhancing the viewing pleasure from both sides of the case. Today, Moser once again welcomes the “Green Dragon” alongside a new and very alluring Purple Haze model, Mark 2 Streamliner Centre Seconds.

Before we examine the design and movement changes, it is worth assuring fans that nothing has been done to alter the streamlined ergonomics of the case and bracelet. The well-balanced cushion-shaped case has a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 10.3 mm (12.1 mm including the sapphire glass). The thin bracelet, seamlessly transitioning into the case without lugs, features articulated tapering lugs that fit the wrist perfectly. The case is adorned with a satin finish, and the slightly recessed center of the case is also polished and positioned between two polished bevels. The bracelet links have a vertically brushed surface with contrasting polished bevels between each link.

The Matrix Green Streamliner Centre Seconds is joined by the new Purple Haze model with a trendy purple dial. One design change involves the logo, which has become almost invisible thanks to a new transparent lacquer image. With nothing distracting on the dial, the sunburst fumé finish can work its magic: when light hits the dial, a multitude of colors appear. From deep purple to blue highlights in the Purple Haze model and from olive green to red-gold in the Matrix Green - these dials elicit endless admiration. The flat hour, minute, and central seconds hands are equipped with Globolight inserts - an innovative ceramic-based material containing Super-LumiNova luminescence.

Further changes can be seen on the reverse side of the watch, where the automatic caliber HMC 201 has replaced the previous HMC 200. Although this movement is “new” to the Streamliner family, it was recently used in the Pioneer Centre Seconds model. Thanks to partially skeletonized bridges and a more open-worked rotor, the viewing pleasure has increased, revealing more details of the mechanism. Giving the movement a more modern look, the skeletonized bridges have an anthracite finish with Moser's signature double stripes. The large balance wheel oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and the barrel still provides a solid 3-day power reserve.
