Unique timepiece for a hereditary tailor from Italy.
Artisans De Genève has once again customized a Rolex. The client was Lucca Rubinacci - a hereditary tailor and creative director of the Neapolitan brand Rubinacci. The Rolex Daytona Ref. 116508 model was used as the base. The watch design incorporates colors that reference Rubinacci's native Italy.
For example, the chronograph counters are in the color of freshly baked pastry. The hands on them are painted in the color of sun-dried tomatoes.
Shades of coffee were chosen for the dial, referencing Lucca Rubinacci's Neapolitan roots. The gradient on the dial evokes associations with coffee grounds and the oily foam at the bottom of a coffee cup.
Special attention was paid to the mechanism. For the first time in Artisans De Genève's history, the bridges do not feature traditional Geneva waves. Instead, the mechanism is decorated with a new pattern inspired by the stonework of Neapolitan streets.
The case of the model is made of yellow gold. In addition to the original bracelet, Lucca Rubinacci ordered an exotic ostrich leather strap, which can be seen as a nod to his profession as a designer. The leather was sourced from an ostrich farm in Tuscany (a region known for its leatherworking traditions) and dyed in coffee color to match the dial.
The customization services cost CHF 26,520.
