Shortly after releasing four updated Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph models to celebrate the 145th anniversary of the Seiko brand, the Japanese company introduced two new summer versions.
This is not pistachio or raspberry-flavored ice cream - although, upon reflection, matcha (green tea) and sakura (cherry blossom) ice cream would be more fitting - but colors Crystal Green and Crystal Pink. Nonetheless, these shades are perfect for summer, and the dial pattern, reminiscent of a quartz crystal, harmonizes with the modern quartz movements in titanium cases.
145th Anniversary Seiko Update: New Colors for Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph
In honor of Seiko's 145th anniversary, the brand decided to update the Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph line. Recently, a quartet of technically advanced models was introduced. However, with summer approaching, the Japanese company decided to complement the collection with two new colors featuring a sunny mood and fresh design. The result is the Crystal Green (HAB005) and Crystal Pink (HAB006) versions. Both models are limited to 1200 pieces and are priced at 3000 euros.
Features of Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph Crystal Green and Crystal Pink
The new models with green and pink dials feature an updated case design recently presented by Seiko. The case dimensions are 43.4 × 50 × 12.4 mm, made of titanium with a super-hard coating on all four sides. The case appears sharper and more elegant compared to previous versions. A new two-piece octagonal bezel adds depth to the visual perception, combining a matte top surface with polished edges that catch the light. This combination of finishes creates a dynamic look for the watch.
The dial has also undergone significant changes. The unusual placement of counters at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock from the previous generation has been abandoned. Now, a more harmonious and readable 3-6-9 layout is used. These changes are related to the adoption of the new in-house Seiko 5X63 caliber instead of the previous 5X83.
Despite the updates, some recognizable design elements remain: the sloped flange with minute markers, applied steel hour markers, and the UTC scale on a raised ring. Meanwhile, the markers have been redesigned and now feature a more generous LumiBrite coating for improved visibility in the dark.
Summer Dials: Inspired by Nature and Quartz Crystals
After releasing four basic models, two bright summer versions abandoned the geometric dial pattern in favor of a more free and natural motif. They feature a new pressed pattern inspired by the sparkling facets of a quartz crystal.
Crystal Green emits a fresh, radiant shade reminiscent of green quartz, while Crystal Pink offers a similar effect but in pink. These colors soften the angular shape of the case and emphasize the stylish character of the technically sophisticated Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph watches.
Both models come with a titanium bracelet, and in a special nylon gift box, there is an additional black silicone strap. Switching between the bracelet and strap is quick and convenient thanks to the quick-release system, allowing changes without tools by pressing a button.
