This week, we conclude our series on Rolex alternatives, saving the best for last.
The Rolex Day-Date has long been considered the flagship model of the brand. It is one of those icons that holds a unique place in the watch world and seems almost irreplaceable. Nevertheless, we took on the challenge and found five alternatives that match the practicality of the day and date indicators and went further.
The Rolex Day-Date is a horological masterpiece symbolizing success and luxury. As you undoubtedly know, this model is made exclusively from precious metals, with the classic yellow gold version historically considered the flagship. When searching for alternatives, it is essential to consider two aspects. First, the practicality of the day and date function. Second, the style and special aura surrounding the Day-Date - we wanted to preserve these in our selection as well. Therefore, the list includes not only sporty watches with similar complications but also models from respected brands. Let's proceed directly to the review of the best alternatives.

Tudor Royal (41 mm)
The first obvious candidate is the Tudor Royal, but not just any of the 71 versions of the current lineup. The day and date are only available in the Royal model with a 41 mm diameter. Smaller models are equipped only with a date window at the "3 o'clock" position, reminiscent of the Day-Date in style but not functionally equivalent. The 41-millimeter Royal resembles classic Day-Date and Oysterquartz models from Rolex - a comparison that speaks volumes and serves as one of Tudor's main merits.

Larger versions of the Royal have a 41 mm case diameter, a length of 48 mm, and a thickness of just 10.6 mm. Depending on preferences, you can choose a model in stainless steel or a combination of steel and yellow gold. Two-tone options are available with chocolate, black, silver, or gold dials, while steel models come with salmon pink, silver, black, or blue dials. Dials with Roman numerals, as shown in the photo, or with a combination of diamond and Roman numeral decorations are also available for those who prefer a more striking look.

Inspiration from Vintage Rolex Oysterquartz Bracelets
All Tudor Royal models feature the distinctive fluted bezel made of steel or solid gold and a five-link bracelet reminiscent of the Oysterquartz bracelets with thin connecting links. The bracelet is made of stainless steel, but in two-tone versions, the thin intermediate links are capped with a 0.2 mm gold layer. Inside the 41-mm case is the Tudor T603 caliber based on the Sellita SW240. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of about 38 hours.

Prices and Availability
The price for the 41-mm Tudor Royal starts at €2,940 for steel models with Roman numerals. The version with diamonds and Roman numerals costs €3,720. Two-tone models are priced at €4,990 with a standard dial and €5,770 with diamonds. At these prices, the Tudor Royal is a very affordable alternative to the Rolex Day-Date and a logical choice for the first position on our list.

Patek Philippe Cubitus Grand Date ref. 5822P-001
The next contender is the controversial Patek Philippe Cubitus Grand Date ref. 5822P-001, one of the first models of the new Cubitus series introduced in October 2024. As you probably recall, opinions on Cubitus were quite polarized. In April 2025, two 40-mm three-hand versions were added to the collection, and Cubitus has now become a permanent part of the brand's lineup. Overall, we would prefer the Nautilus or the three-hand version of Cubitus, but the Grand Date suits those who appreciate the design and convenience of a large date indicator and additional day of the week and moon phase indicators.

Another small sub-dial shows the seconds. For many, the combination of differently sized indicators looked unusual. As a supporter of visual balance and symmetry, I understand this criticism, but such a design has deep roots in Patek's history and is not accidental. Let's consider the technical details. The Cubitus Grand Date case is made of platinum, with a diameter of 45 mm, a thickness of 9.6 mm, and a length of 44.9 mm. Despite its impressive width, the modest length ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. The watch comes with a dark blue strap made of textured composite material with a platinum folding clasp.

Caliber 240 PS CI J LU
The back of the case reveals the in-house caliber 240 PS CI J LU with 52 jewels. The automatic movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides a 48-hour power reserve. A feature of the caliber is the even distribution of energy among all indicators and the quick transition of readings in 18 milliseconds. For convenient setting, date and day/moon phase correctors are located on the sides of the case, which do not damage the movement.

The Patek Philippe Cubitus Grand Date ref. 5822P-001 is a controversial choice for our list due to the absence of a bracelet and mixed reviews. Nevertheless, in terms of functionality and status, these €91,900 watches deserve attention.

A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus
Next up is the magnificent Odysseus from A. Lange & Söhne. The German brand has introduced four Odysseus models with three hands and a chronograph version. For our list, we chose the classic three-hand model. The titanium Odysseus from 2022 and the Honeygold version from last year were limited editions, while the steel and white gold versions are part of the permanent collection and are still available. Personally, I prefer the titanium version, but the Honeygold is not far behind.

The Odysseus case has a diameter of 40.5 mm, a thickness of 11.1 mm, and a lug-to-lug length of 47 mm. The dial is multi-layered, with a day of the week window at "9 o'clock" and a large date display at "3 o'clock". There is also a small seconds counter at the "6 o'clock" position. The hour markers are applied in relief and filled with luminescent material, while the minute scale is placed on a raised rehaut ring, preserving the main dial's cleanliness. The hour and minute hands complement the design, adding visual depth.

Bracelet and Movement
The watch comes with an integrated bracelet made of the same material as the case, featuring meticulous finishing and a complex design. An exception is the white gold version, which comes with a black rubber strap. However, with such an impressive bracelet as the Odysseus, it is difficult to choose a strap. Besides aesthetics, the bracelet provides practical precision length adjustment of 7 mm.

Inside is the in-house automatic caliber L155.1 Datomatic, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 50-hour power reserve. The movement is decorated with German silver, Glashütte stripes, perlage, anglage, gold chatons, a hand-engraved balance, and a skeletonized rotor with a platinum weight.

Overall, the A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus is an outstanding watch and a worthy alternative to the Rolex Day-Date. Despite a different stylistic genre, the day and date indication and the brand's high status make the Odysseus an attractive choice.

Prices for different models are available upon request, but if you are considering the Day-Date, the Odysseus might well be within reach.

TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date
After two premium models, we move on to a more affordable option - the TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date. The current series debuted last year. These watches occupy a central place in the Carrera collection, serving as an excellent and convenient daily choice that many prefer over Carrera chronographs. The Carrera Day-Date features a stainless steel case with a 41 mm diameter, a thickness of 12.57 mm, and a length of 47.5 mm. There are currently eight references in the lineup, initially six. Two variants are made of steel with rose gold, and one is steel with rose gold dial details.

The dials of seven models are styled with baton-shaped indexes, while the eighth is a classic white with blue Arabic numerals. All feature a day and date indicator at "3 o'clock" and the signature TAG Heuer logo at "12 o'clock". The bracelet and strap options allow you to match the style to the case. Prices range from €3,990 for the basic steel model to €8,950 for the two-tone variant.

Movement and Features
The watches are powered by the automatic caliber TH31-02, produced by Sellita AMT, visible through the sapphire case back. The operating frequency is 28,800 vibrations per hour, and the power reserve is 80 hours. Setting the day and date is simple: pull out the crown to the first position and rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise.

The Carrera Day-Date may not be the first model that comes to mind when mentioning Carrera, but it is an attractive offering from TAG Heuer for those seeking comfortable and functional watches with day and date indication from a renowned brand.

Seiko 5 Sports SNXS Series
The fifth and final alternative is a trio of Seiko 5 Sports watches released two years ago. The SRPK87, SRPK89, and SRPK91 models have a stainless steel case with a 37.4 mm diameter, a thickness of 12.5 mm, and a lug-to-lug length of 44.7 mm. The dials are available in dark blue, black, or champagne colors with contrasting rehaut and markers filled with beige Seiko Lumbrite luminescent material.

At the "3 o'clock" position is a day and date window with black and white design in all versions. This practical feature has long been a hallmark of Seiko, especially in the Seiko 5 lineup.

Style with Hints of Rolex Day-Date
All three models come with a three-row bracelet with rounded links reminiscent of the Rolex President bracelet, making them comfortable for everyday wear. Of course, it's not a Tudor Royal, but the retro style suits the daily watch category, just like the Day-Date. Inside is the in-house automatic caliber 4R36, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and providing a 41-hour power reserve.

After releasing this trio, Seiko introduced three more models with the same case and bracelet but with dials featuring gold accents (SRPL55, SRPL57, SRPL59) - a good choice for those seeking a less sporty and more classic design. All SNXS series models are available for about €400, offering an excellent combination of price, style, and functionality comparable to the Rolex Day-Date.

Final Conclusions on Five Alternatives to Rolex Day-Date
That's all - our top five alternatives to the Rolex Day-Date in 2026. Unlike other Rolex models, the choice here is limited. For most iconic Rolexes, it's easy to find alternatives, but the unique combination of style and function makes finding replacements for the Day-Date more challenging. This clearly demonstrates why the Day-Date is so special. Nevertheless, there are more options on the market. What Rolex Day-Date alternatives do you like?
