Today we will take a detailed look at one of my favorite independent brands - Atelier Wen.
The company rarely releases models that do not attract interest, and the new Millésime Perception Xuán is no exception. As we will see, this model uses a familiar platform, but instead of engraving, it employs stonework. Additionally, for those who do not accept strictly limited series, the watch will be available for order during an open window.
History and Popularity of the Perception Model by Atelier Wen
The Atelier Wen Perception watch has long been on my wish list - for over a year I couldn't decide on a choice, as each new version only increased the temptation. This is, without a doubt, the most recognizable and popular model of the young brand. Cases and bracelets were made from various metals, including steel, tantalum, and titanium. The dials are traditionally adorned with hand-made guilloché. However, the Millésime series (translated from French as "vintage," as in winemaking) offers something special. Millésime Perception Xuán received a significant innovation.
Features of the Atelier Wen Millésime Perception Xuán Model
For Atelier Wen fans, the Millésime Perception Xuán will not be a surprise in technical terms. The 904L stainless steel case has retained its familiar dimensions: 40 mm in diameter, 47 mm in length, and 9.4 mm in thickness. The design uses a double-domed sapphire crystal with 10 (!) layers of anti-reflective coating. As always, the watch is designed for constant wear, confirmed by water resistance up to 100 meters. The package includes a proprietary integrated bracelet with a quick-release system and on-the-go micro-adjustment clasp, allowing size adjustment without removing the watch.

Pietersite Stone Instead of Guilloché: Dial Features
Usually, in Perception reviews, I detail the guilloché process by Master Chan. However, Millésime Perception Xuán offers something different. Pietersite stone was chosen for the dial for several reasons. What is this material? Officially - chalcedony, a variety of silica. In watchmaking, pietersite can be described as a mixture of tiger's eye and hawk's eye - materials already familiar from other models. Some brands also use pietersite, but in limited quantities.

Atelier Wen chose pietersite due to its natural deposits in China. The blend of blue and brown hues evokes associations with traditional Chinese landscape gardens in the mountains - blue springs and nearby buildings are reflected in the dial design. In production, the stone is carefully selected, and in the Zhejiang workshop, holes for polished hour markers are hand-cut. The stone then undergoes delicate polishing in Guangdong.

Aesthetics of Metal and Stone in the Millésime Perception Xuán Model
I appreciate precious stones and stone finishes in general, and pietersite is truly impressive. The polished material has depth and detailing: dark and smoky light areas create an almost ethereal effect. Combined with fine details - applied indices, luminescent hands, and a glowing ring with a "huīwén" pattern - the dial looks expressive but without excessive distracting elements.

Do not forget that Perception remains popular for a reason: the case fits perfectly on the wrist, and the bracelet is on par with more expensive sports models with integrated bracelets. Among affordable sports watches with integrated bracelets, Perception by Atelier Wen occupies one of the leading positions. Now with a stone dial, this model has become even more unique.

Dandong SL1588A Movement: Technical Specifications and Reliability
Atelier Wen continues to use the Chinese automatic caliber Dandong SL1588A. In Millésime Perception Xuán, the technical parameters remain unchanged: a power reserve of 41 hours, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Movements are regulated with an accuracy of ±10 seconds per day. The see-through window showcases the movement's finish: circular côtes circulaires waves, polished screw sinks, blue screws, and a tungsten rotor with black rhodium plating and the same circular waves. According to the brand's founder, Robin Tallendier, the movement is highly reliable. If necessary, Atelier Wen has a global network of certified service partners.

Ordering Process for Millésime Perception Xuán: Features and Timelines
Brand fans expressed concern about limited series that many collectors could not acquire in time. Therefore, for Millésime Perception Xuán, for the first time (and possibly not the last), a different ordering process is applied. On January 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 Central European Time (CET), members of the brand's WhatsApp community will receive an exclusive ordering window. Then, from 4:00 CET, a general pre-sale period will open on the brand's official website, which will last until 4:00 CET on February 6. After this, no new orders will be accepted. The first 225 pieces will be shipped in the second quarter of 2026, the remaining part - in the fourth quarter.
The price of the model is USD 3600 (excluding taxes and duties). It is expected that the watch will be in demand. It will be interesting to know the opinions of experts and collectors on the combination of the stone dial with the Perception case.
