Often overlooked in the Swatch Group, Mido has always represented solid value at accessible prices. Mido's flagship Ocean Star collection introduces three new models with ceramic bezels and vibrant textured dials. Attractive and reliable versatile watches equipped with the Swatch Group's latest generation caliber 80, the Ocean Star 200C trilogy offers enough durability and appeal for active surf or turf adventures.

HISTORY

Mido was founded in 1918. With the development of the Aquadura sealing system in 1930, featuring a cork gasket on the crown to prevent water and dust from entering the movement, Mido became a pioneer in waterproof watches. In 1934, the Multifort model appeared - reliable automatic anti-magnetic watches with built-in water resistance and shock resistance, which became a bestseller until the 1950s. The Ocean Star family, with its starfish logo, appeared in the early 1940s and evolved over the years, gaining a monocoque case and the Aquadura cork crown sealing system to enhance the water resistance of the watches.

NATURE-INSPIRED COLORS

The dials and bezels of the Ocean Star 200C have been updated with new colors, new textures, and the use of scratch-resistant high-tech ceramic in the bezel matching the dial color. Available in green, blue, or gray with a matte finish, the dials are adorned with an attractive embossed wave pattern. To give the watches even more flair, the unidirectional knurled rotating bezel, an essential feature of diving watches, is equipped with a ceramic ring and bold white markings. All individually applied indices and the dot at the 12 o'clock position are filled with white Super-LumiNova luminescent material. The central groove of the hour and minute hands with diamond-cut edges, as well as the lollipop on the second hand, are filled with luminescent material. The dial, evidently intended for use both below and above deck, features a day and date window with a white background and black numerals.

DURABLE CASE

The stainless steel case measures 42.50 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in thickness. The screw-down crown with protection and screw-down case back provide water resistance up to 200 meters. Remarkably well-finished for watches priced under 1,000 euros, the steel case and integrated bracelet feature matte and polished finishes. Clearly, in sports watches, polishing predominates in areas that don't frequently contact surfaces, such as the central polished link of the bracelet and the bevels on the case. The case back is embossed and polished with the starfish logo - the Ocean Star emblem.

POWERMATIC 80 CALIBER

Although the movement is hidden under a solid steel case back, the Ocean Star 200C watches are equipped with the Mido 80 caliber based on the ETA C07.621. The Powermatic 80 caliber, used in some of the most affordable Swatch Group brands, is an evolution of the 2824 architecture, refined with a kinetic chain and reduced frequency. It now beats at 3 Hz, and the power reserve has been increased more than twofold to 80 hours. The watches are presented in the élaboré grade and are adjusted in three positions.

PRICE

The integrated steel bracelet is equipped with a folding clasp with a diving extension. All three models cost 990 euros and come with a two-year warranty. For more information, visit www.midowatches.com.
