Two new models in black ceramic referencing the driver's signature blue helmet.
British racing driver George Russell, currently competing for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, joined the ranks of IWC ambassadors in 2022. Four years later, this partnership has resulted in two new additions to the Pilot's Watch collection. The main feature of these watches is the stark black monochrome, which is enlivened by a bright blue color, referencing the driver's helmet.
IWC has been the official partner of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One since 2013. During this time, many watches have been released under this partnership, and the new models for 2026 might be mistaken for earlier Pilot Mark XX and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 models for Mercedes-AMG. However, these are typical representatives of the Top Gun line, characterized by their military style, matte dials, and innovative case materials such as titanium or the proprietary titanium and ceramic composite known as Ceratanium.
Besides the references to George Russell's blue helmet, this release includes another detail closely tied to the driver's biography: the number "63," which was used by his older brother Benjamin in the 2000s. Since then, it has become the family number for the brothers, now depicted on the helmet. Hence, the engraving of "63" on the watch's case back and the production limit of 1063 pieces for both models.
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 George Russell comes in a ceramic case based on zirconium oxide. The case measures 41.9 mm x 15.5 mm with water resistance up to 100 meters. The buttons and crown are made from Ceratanium. The dial is covered by IWC's signature sapphire glass, protected against displacement during air pressure drops. A titanium case back is installed on the reverse side, with additional protection against magnetic fields provided by an inner case made of soft iron.
The black matte dial of the watch features blue inscriptions and markings. The hands are filled with luminescent Super-LumiNova of the corresponding color. Inside the case is an automatic caliber 69380 with a 46-hour power reserve. This is a column-wheel chronograph that, in addition to the usual functionality, also has a double window for displaying the date and day of the week.
The Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 George Russell has roughly the same features, but with slightly smaller dimensions: 41 x 11.4 mm. This is a black ceramic case, a Ceratanium crown, sapphire glass, an inner case of soft iron, as well as blue markings and the same lighting on the hands. Inside the case is an automatic caliber 321112, which provides a 5-day power reserve. In addition to the hour, minute, and date display, the movement is equipped with a stop-seconds function.
Both models come with blue rubber straps with Ceratanium buckles. For maximum convenience, the straps feature a quick-change system that does not require the use of additional tools by the owner.
The estimated price of the IWC Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 George Russell (ref. IW328107) is $8,900, while the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 George Russell (ref. IW389411) is priced at $12,900.
