The Principality of Monaco, nestled on the Mediterranean coast between France and Italy, has always possessed an irresistible allure for the rich and famous. Whether it's the world-famous casino, the long-standing Monaco Grand Prix, or the luxurious Monaco Yacht Show - it is truly a playground for the wealthy. And of course, where there is a talk of marine life, marine chronometry is never far away. Ulysse Nardin, the official sponsor of the annual event for over a decade, presents the Ulysse Nardin Diver Monaco Yacht Show and Marine Mega Yacht on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the first Monaco Yacht Show.
What began as an event focused on yacht brokers, those who connect supply and demand, has evolved into a leading, luxurious gathering of handpicked yacht manufacturers and affiliated companies. Over its 20-year existence, with 2020 canceled for obvious reasons, the show has expanded into the luxury world beyond yachts, featuring luxury brands and high-end car manufacturers.
The venue for the show is, of course, the Port Hercules harbor in Monaco, which we all know too well from events like the Monaco Grand Prix held annually. Each year, the best yachts are invited to one of the berths in the harbor. Additionally, the show hosts about 600 exhibitors, from brokers to suppliers, shipbuilders, and more.

Everything here is, of course, oriented towards the lives of the super-rich, those who can spend millions on an extravagant yacht. But the show is open to the public, so if you want to see some of the featured items, you can do so. The Monaco Yacht Show in 2021 will be held from September 22 to 25. The organizers state that it is a COVID-19 safe event, so rest assured if you wish to attend.
Ulysse Nardin is no random choice for the Monaco Yacht Show, as the brand has a very rich history in the development of marine chronometry and precise navigation instruments. Since the brand's founding in 1864, it has earned a reputation as a supplier of marine chronometers for more than fifty fleets and shipping companies. Even today, with collections such as Marine, Marine Torpilleur, and Diver, the marine connection is alive and well.

With such a past and connection to such a show, it is only natural to dress the emblematic Diver and Marine collection for this occasion. Both a robust, tool-like instrument and genuine Haute-Horlogerie watches were selected to best represent the brand and the event.
ULYSSE NARDIN MARINE MEGA YACHT MONACO YACHT SHOW LIMITED EDITION
The first is a truly provocative model that will undoubtedly divide opinions; the Ulysse Nardin Marine Mega Yacht. First presented in platinum, this limited series of 30 pieces now features a rose gold case. These Haute-Horlogerie style watches are a play on the theme of marine life associated with Ulysse Nardin and, of course, the Monaco Yacht Show.

The enamel dial is made in-house and features a stylized bow of a ship. Besides this, there are numerous other references to (super) yacht life. For example, the power reserve indicator in the form of a chain and anchor is connected to a capstan, which you can see at the “twelve o'clock” position. It resembles a ship's anchor winch system. Additionally, the outer ring of the flying tourbillon is shaped like a propeller.

But the watch is not just for show, as it is equipped with additional useful indicators for marine life. There is a large 3D moon phase and a tidal coefficient and volume indicator. The UN-631 caliber is developed in-house and, as mentioned, is regulated by a flying tourbillon. The power reserve is 80 hours. The Ulysse Nardin Marine Mega Yacht watch is limited to 30 pieces and is priced at 266,800 Swiss Francs.

ULYSSE NARDIN DIVER CHRONOGRAPH MONACO YACHT SHOW LIMITED EDITION
The second watch presented is much less complex and, frankly, more practical for everyday use. The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco Yacht Show Limited Edition incorporates the use of red, white, and blue colors throughout the watch to create a sporty, maritime look. The 44 mm case is made of titanium, as is the bezel, screw-down crown, and pushers. Sapphire glass is on top and bottom. The water resistance is 300 meters.

The rubber bezel and rubber strap with a signature UN link match the blue color of the chronograph counters. The dial is predominantly white, with subtle red accents. Large hour markers and hands make it easy to tell the time at a glance. Under the sapphire crystal back, you can see the in-house chronograph movement UN-150, equipped with a silicon escapement.
