A sporty novelty with an asphalt-colored dial, released for the start of the 44th Mille Miglia retro race.
In anticipation of the 44th Mille Miglia retro rally, which will take place from June 9 to 13, Chopard has unveiled a new model from the namesake collection. The main feature of this model is the Grigio-Blu shade dial, inspired by the dashboards of racing cars.
The watch features a 43 x 11.43 mm case. In line with current trends, it is quite massive, but the short, downward-curved lugs visually make the novelty appear smaller. The case is made of Chopard's proprietary Lucent Steel, composed of 80% recycled material. The matte surfaces alternate with polished ones. In keeping with the automotive spirit of the collection, the screw-down crown, framed by protective elements, is engraved with a steering wheel motif.
The fixed bezel is equipped with a 60-minute graduated scale. The black insert on the bezel is made not of ceramic, as one might expect, but of aluminum, giving the watch a vintage appearance. The gray-blue dial has a pronounced grainy texture that visually resembles asphalt. The applied hour markers and large numerals at the "12" and "6 o'clock" positions are filled with black Super-LumiNova luminescent material.
Black can also be seen on other dial details (the seconds scale, date window, and power reserve indicator). The design of the watch is enlivened by red accents, particularly the hand with the inscription 1000 Miglia, pointing to the date window. The red hand (a symbol of the Mille Miglia collection) is a replica of an old road sign from the Brescia-Rome route, which hosts the famous retro rally.
The case back is equipped with sapphire glass secured by 8 screws. Through it, the COSC-certified movement of the watch is visible. This is the caliber 01.08-C with a stop-seconds function. With a balance frequency of 28,800 vph, the automatic movement provides a power reserve of about 60 hours.
The novelty comes with a black textile strap with a rubber lining and a steel folding clasp. The relief pattern on the lining mirrors the tread pattern of tires. The release is limited to a series of 250 pieces, which will be available only in Italy and Chopard boutiques. The estimated price of the model is €7,490.
