Key Takeaways

  • Chronoswiss continues its tradition with the Flying Regulator Open Gear Lucerne Edition.
  • The watch features a new color palette and limited production of 50 pieces.
  • Priced at €8,900, it combines classic design with modern craftsmanship.

Part of the Chronoswiss legacy can be attributed to the Regulator model. This separated time indication, prioritizing minutes, has been in the collection since 1987, harking back to times when workshops and factories required precise time display. This specific time display method features a large central minute hand and separate axes and hands for hours and minutes. Now, Chronoswiss presents the next model in the long line of regulators: the Chronoswiss Flying Regulator Open Gear Lucerne Edition.

The Chronoswiss company was founded in 1983 in the German city of Munich, despite its name. Four years after starting its watchmaking activities, the first Regulator watches were introduced. After a change of ownership in 2012, the company moved to Lucerne but retained its original style and the regulator as its signature complication.

Chronoswiss Flying Regulator Open Gear Lucerne Edition watch face

The Chronoswiss Flying Regulator Open Gear watches have long been part of the brand's collection and were updated a couple of years ago. The foundation of this model, the Flying Regulator Open Gear Lucerne Edition, remains unchanged compared to previous releases, such as the yellow version we previously covered, but it has received a new color palette.

The signature Chronoswiss steel case measures 41 mm in diameter and 13.85 mm in height. It features a knurled bezel and an onion-shaped crown, which Chronoswiss is renowned for. Distinctive straight lugs are another classic element of Chronoswiss. The case is equipped with sapphire crystals on the front and back, and water resistance is 100 meters.

The galvanic silver dial is adorned with a hand-applied guilloché pattern. The hour and second subdials are suspended above the dial and feature blue CVD coating. The same treatment is applied to the outer minute track and the plaque at the 3 o'clock position. Trigonal-shaped hour and minute hands feature Super-LumiNova inserts, and the three-tipped second hand marks the seconds.
