The connection between James Bond and watches in cinema is well known. Watches are an integral part of Agent 007's image, and at times, an important tool for completing missions. The most famous are the Rolex Submariner ref. 6538, first worn by Sean Connery in "Dr. No" (1962). These watches became a symbol of the Sean Connery era as Bond.
The Sean Connery era is associated with Rolex, while Roger Moore's time is linked with Seiko watches. But since 1995, after the release of "GoldenEye" featuring Pierce Brosnan wearing the Omega Seamaster Professional 300M, Omega has become the preferred brand for Bond. Later, Daniel Craig also wore various Omega models, including the Seamaster Diver 300M and Seamaster Planet Ocean in "Casino Royale" (2006). In "No Time to Die" (2021), Craig even wore a model he helped design - the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition.
It can be confidently said that Omega's collaboration with the James Bond franchise is the most famous watch collaboration with the British agent. In 2026, this partnership reaches a new level with the release of the video game "007 First Light". Instead of a simple appearance in the game, the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light was designed specifically for the game and released on May 27 - the day of the game's release.
New James Bond Seamaster: Large and Technologically Advanced
In the game, players control a young Agent 007 undergoing training at MI6. And, of course, he cannot manage without essential tools - a sturdy and stylish Omega Seamaster graces the hero's wrist.
These watches are perfect for an active lifestyle like James Bond's. They are water-resistant up to 300 meters and equipped with a ceramic diving bezel. As befits a secret agent, the new model (reference 210.32.44.51.01.002) is filled with modern watchmaking technologies that the Swiss brand is renowned for.
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light features a black zirconium ceramic dial with laser-engraved waves. The sapphire crystal is on both sides, with a hardness of 9 out of 10 on the Mohs scale. The dial includes a date window at "6 o'clock", a small seconds hand on the left, and a 12-hour chronograph counter on the right.
The skeletonized hands and hour markers are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring excellent readability in the dark. The main feature is the in-house Omega 9900 caliber, certified as a Master Chronometer. The METAS certification, conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, guarantees accuracy with a maximum deviation of 0 to +5 seconds per day.
The 9900 caliber has a power reserve of up to 60 hours and impressive anti-magnetic protection up to 15,000 gauss. The watch is equipped with a helium escape valve at "10 o'clock", and the crown is screw-down.
Unlike many other diving and sports chronographs, the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light does not have screw-down chronograph pushers. Thanks to Omega's sealing system, the buttons do not require screwing down to maintain water resistance at 300 meters.
All these technologies are packed in a large case with a diameter of 44 mm, a height of 17.2 mm, and a lug-to-lug distance of 52.8 mm.
The watch comes with an elegant James Bond-style NATO strap (six additional options are available separately) and is packaged in a branded presentation box styled after the game. Currently, the watch can only be purchased directly from Omega at a recommended price of $9,400. However, as usual, it is worth keeping an eye on the secondary market after some time.
Other Watches Appearing in Video Games
Although watches do not appear in video games as often as in films, they have been present in the gaming industry for many years. For example, this is not the first case of Omega appearing in Bond games. In the "GoldenEye" (1997) game, Agent 007 wore the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M.
Another brand from the Swatch group - Hamilton - also has a long history in film and video games. In the first-person shooter "Far Cry 6" (2021), the hero wears a Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Automatic. Recently, Hamilton released two models featured in the game "Resident Evil: Requiem". Additionally, Hamilton created a limited series Khaki Field Automatic Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Limited Edition, which appears in the game Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
TAG Heuer has released both smartwatches and tourbillon models in collaboration with Mario Kart games. Luxury brand Louis Vuitton has appeared with watches in "Final Fantasy" and "League of Legends" games. Casio is also represented in gaming - a character from "League of Legends" wears the G-Shock GM-B2100LL-1A.
Another Japanese brand with a rich history of collaborations in video games is Seiko. For example, in "Resident Evil: Death Island," a character wears the Seiko Astron SSH129. Earlier this year, Seiko released two models for "Sonic the Hedgehog" in collaboration with Sega.
My Top Three Gaming Watches
If I had to choose three favorite watch models from video games, at the top would be the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M from "GoldenEye" (1997). These were the first Omega watches in a Bond game, perfectly reflecting a new era for Agent 007. In second place is the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Automatic from "Far Cry 6" (2021) - rugged field watches, ideal for the adventure setting of the game. Rounding out the top three is the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean from "James Bond 007: Blood Stone" (2010) - another successful model for the most famous secret agent, demonstrating how Omega's collaboration with the Bond franchise extends beyond cinema and into the gaming world.
