The history of Hamilton in military and pilot watches is undeniable due to its collaboration with the US armed forces during both World Wars.
With the advent of aviation, Hamilton took to the skies, supplying watches to pioneering pilots and US airmail pilots starting in 1918. Over the years, Hamilton has collaborated with military squadrons, air rescue services, and aerobatic pilots, giving the pilot watch history over a century of legacy. In 2022, Hamilton partnered with Air-Glaciers, recognized as one of the most advanced helicopter rescue organizations globally, with nearly 60 years of experience in this field. The latest Khaki Aviation Pilot model, made of titanium with a vibrant blue dial, was developed in collaboration with Air-Glacier helicopter pilots and possesses all the qualities of durability, readability, and precision inherent in Hamilton pilot watches.
The best-selling Hamilton Khaki collection, divided into aviation, field, and navy, includes both vintage and more modern models capable of withstanding adventures on land, sea, and air. The latest model is based on the recently updated Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date model and presented in a larger diameter of 42 mm with a thickness of 12.1 mm (36 mm models do not feature a day/date function). Titanium was chosen for its hypoallergenic properties and strength-to-weight ratio, reducing the watch's weight by 45%. The case is fully matte to avoid scratches, features crown protection, and is water-resistant up to 100 meters.

The watch dial, executed in Air-Glacier's red and blue livery, emphasizes readability with clear white markers, extensive use of Super-LumiNova luminescent coating, and broad hands. Unlike typical pilot watches, the main ring does not show the hours, instead, it is dedicated to the minutes. White Arabic numerals indicating minutes (05-55) intersect with luminous rectangular markers at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock and an orientation triangle at noon. The indicator at the “3 o'clock” position is slightly shortened to accommodate the rectangular day/date window with a white background.

The central seconds hand with red stripes, created specifically for collaboration with Air-Glacier, resembles the rotor blades of a helicopter. Large sword-shaped hour and minute hands are also coated with green Super-LumiNova, and as you may have noticed, the hour hand has an openwork tip - and it's not without reason. If the hour hand were solid, the hours, which are confined to the inner circle and smaller than the minutes, would be obscured. The openwork tip points to the current hour and neatly frames it.

Another practical feature that helps save weight is the blue nylon Velcro strap with a leather lining and the Air-Glacier logo on the clasp. It is not only lighter than a metal bracelet but also fits perfectly on the wrist, providing increased comfort. The watch also comes with a casual brown suede nubuck strap.

The watch is equipped with the Hamilton H-30 caliber, which is a movement from the Swatch Group Powermatic 80 family, based on the ETA 2836-2. The H-30 caliber features Hamilton's signature rotor and benefits from a revised kinematic chain, reduced frequency, a Nivachron balance spring, and an increased power reserve of up to 80 hours, a reliable Powermatic 80 movement. The screw-down case back has a small semicircular window revealing the movement.

The Hamilton Khaki Pilot Air Glaciers Titanium watch comes in an orange R40 Pelican Ruck Case and is priced at 1,295 Swiss francs, 1,495 euros or 1,395 US dollars. More information can be found on the website hamiltonwatch.com.
