A new release from LVMH Watch Week, crafted with a 19th-century machine.
Last year, Louis Vuitton released two Tambour Convergence models, showcasing a modern interpretation of the montres à guichet style. During the LVMH Watch Week in Milan, these watches returned with an update, now featuring the art of hand guilloché.
The new model retains the dimensions of previous versions, with a diameter of 37 mm and a thickness of 8 mm. The rose gold case of the watch combines three types of finishes: mirror polishing, satin brushing, and sandblasting. The sculptural lugs, made separately, have undergone micro-blasting.
As in last year's models, the hours and minutes are displayed on brass discs visible through arched windows at the top of the dial. The indicators are unified by a rhomboid marker that serves as both the hour and minute hand.
Another highlight of the new model is a series of wave-like rays emanating from the windows across the entire surface of the dial. These are created using two manually-operated machines: one from 1850 for engraving concentric waves and straight lines, and another from 1935 for applying the wave pattern. Engraving one model from this series takes about 16 hours.
The model is powered by the caliber LFT MA01.01, created within the walls of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. This movement, with a solid rose gold rotor, offers a 45-hour power reserve at a balance frequency of 4 Hz. Its finishing includes sandblasting of the bridges, perlage on the plate, polished bevels, and an LV emblem engraving on the rotor.
The watch is accompanied by a blue calfskin strap with a rose gold buckle. The approximate price of the model is €59,000.
