Key Takeaways

  • Maurice Lacroix introduces rubber straps for Aikon Automatic.
  • New dial colors for 39mm and 42mm Aikon models.
  • FKM rubber straps offer enhanced durability and flexibility.

As the market for sport-chic watches with integrated bracelets/straps is the hottest in the industry, we have seen many brands embrace this concept in recent years. Already in 2016, it was Maurice Lacroix's turn to present its Aikon collection, initially with quartz movements, and in 2018 - with automatic calibers. Since then, there have been many iterations, with the brand paying close attention to its customers' expectations. In this case, the brand expands its accessible range of luxury sports watches by offering rubber straps and new dials for the Aikon Automatic models in 39mm and 42mm.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic collection overview

The Aikon collection from Maurice Lacroix has become quite impressive, including watches with date and time, chronographs, a skeleton chronograph, a more sporty Venturer model available with a GMT function, or even more complex models with an in-house movement or a very intriguing display. And this is not to mention various sizes, from 35mm to 44mm. But it seems the brand still has ideas for its sports watches, as it is now releasing new models.

Although we weren't able to photograph all the watches available in the 2021 collection, here is an overview of what you can soon see in stores. First of all, in addition to the existing integrated leather straps and metal bracelets available for the entire collection, the classic Aikon Automatic watch with self-winding and date can now be equipped with an integrated textured rubber strap. The strap closes with a pin buckle and is equipped with an intelligent Easy Strap Exchange system, allowing strap changes without the use of tools. They will be available for the 39mm and 42mm models, as well as an accessory for current owners.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon with integrated rubber strap

The rubber strap is skillfully integrated into the design of the Aikon Automatic watch with a Clous de Paris pattern, echoing the decor on the dial, and two recessed channels that seamlessly blend with the case and lugs. These rubber straps are made from FKM rubber, which provides greater wear resistance, excellent flexibility, and the color is less prone to fading.

The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 2021 collection also includes new dial options. For example, a new dark gray dial is available for the 39mm and 42mm models. This new dial is offered as a “strap set” with a metal bracelet and a spare rubber/leather or just with one of the options.

In addition to this new color, the 39mm model is also available with a green dial, which first appeared on the 42mm version. Similarly, the rose-colored dial, which proved very popular in the 39mm case, is now offered in the larger 42mm model.
