Today we explore four key Panerai novelties presented at Watches & Wonders 2026.
This is a kind of time capsule, where the brand draws inspiration from the Ref. 6152/1 model of the 1960s, creating a collection of vintage Luminor watches with manual winding. The review includes four new references: Luminor PAM01731 and its left-handed 'brother' Destro PAM01732, Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 with Brunito finish and an 8-day movement, as well as the large and expressive Luminor PAM01735 made of steel.
Panerai Luminor PAM01731 and Destro PAM01732: Reduced Classics with Vintage Character
The main feature of the PAM01731 and Destro PAM01732 models is the new case architecture. For the first time, the legendary Panerai 6152/1 case with its original 'cushion' geometry, 47 mm in diameter, has been reduced to 44 mm. The characteristic case shape and flat bridge for crown protection, as well as high water resistance up to 300 meters, are preserved. The stainless steel cases look elegant despite the tool-like nature of the watch: the polished surface is combined with a satin finish on the crown protection.

In honor of the origin of these watches, created for the Italian navy, both models use a convex sapphire crystal imitating the original PERSPEX from the 1960s. The vintage style is accentuated by beige SuperLuminova with a patina effect and thin 'pencil' type hands.

The PAM01731 is equipped with a matte tobacco dial with a grainy texture - a rare color in the modern Panerai collection. The gradient from dark to light brown resembles the beginning of tropical patination, but has not yet reached its maturity. The dial is very clean and easy to read, with the signature 'sandwich' construction providing bright glow through the Arabic numerals.

The Destro PAM01732 model has the same 44 mm case and similar technical specifications, but the dial is matte dark blue and does not contain a small seconds indicator - only hours and minutes. The absence of running seconds on a sporty diver's watch may seem unusual, but it gives the dial a special purity and tranquility.
As a 'destro' (Italian for 'right-handed'), the crown is located on the left, which was historically done for military divers who needed to free their left hand for instruments such as a compass or depth gauge, allowing the watch to be worn on the right wrist.

Both models are equipped with the P.6000 caliber with manual winding and a power reserve of 72 hours. The watches come with a brown leather strap and an additional rubber strap matching the dial color. Sales are expected to start in April 2026 at a price of 9,200 USD.

Panerai Luminor 8 Giorni Brunito 44 mm PAM01733: Unique Finish and 8-Day Power Reserve

The next model is the Luminor 8 Giorni Brunito PAM01733 with a 44 mm diameter. The highlight is the Brunito case finish. First, a black PVD coating is applied to the steel, then hand brushing is done in one direction, partially erasing the coating and imitating natural wear of field tools. As a result, each case is unique. This solution looks restrained and stylish, without excessive pretentiousness.

The anthracite-colored dial with hand-applied circular brushing revives the design while maintaining excellent readability. The dial color harmonizes with the case finish, creating a sought-after monochromatic look.

The 'sandwich' construction with beige SuperLuminova under the dial, as well as the small seconds at the '9 o'clock' position, add vintage charm and functionality.
The model is equipped with the P.5000 caliber with manual winding and a record power reserve of 192 hours (8 days). This is a historically important figure for Panerai, tracing back to the choice of the Angelus SF240 movement for the GPF 2/56 model of the 1950s, which minimized the need for frequent winding and maintained water resistance.

Sales will begin in June 2026, with a price of 11,300 USD.

Panerai Luminor 47 mm Steel PAM01735: Classic in Large Format

The final model is the Luminor PAM01735 with a 47 mm diameter, retaining the original case size of the 6152/1 model without reduction. Despite the large size, water resistance is reduced to 100 meters, however, the crown guard system is preserved and the watch passes rigorous tests.

The case and seals undergo 10-year aging simulation, then dust and moisture tests, and after assembly, multi-step water resistance testing with a 25% margin over the stated pressure.

The dial is in ivory with a matte grainy texture and a brown lacquer gradient, enhancing the 'tropical' patina effect characteristic of vintage Panerai models. The 'sandwich' construction with beige SuperLuminova and small seconds at '9 o'clock' complete the look.

Inside is the P.3000 caliber with manual winding and a 72-hour power reserve. The movement features a quick-set hour function, allowing the hour hand to be independently adjusted when changing time zones.
Sales start in June 2026, with a price of 12,400 USD.

Final Assessment of the Panerai Luminor 2026 Collection

In terms of positioning and prices, the new Panerai models are clearly targeted at the premium segment of diver watches, which is logical considering the brand's status and rich heritage. It is precisely the history, vintage design, and authenticity that will be key factors for buyers.

Although sizes of 44 mm and especially 47 mm may seem too large for owners of smaller wrists, the collection offers a variety of styles and finishes. Personally, my favorite is the Luminor 8 Giorni Brunito PAM01733 with its monochrome aesthetics, unique finish, and impressive 8-day movement.
Overall, the collection represents a fresh take on classic Panerai models, which fans of the brand around the world will surely appreciate.
