Oris Divers Date with Matte Green Dial

Almost two years have passed since the launch of the Oris Divers Date - the modern successor to the popular Divers Sixty-Five.

The new model has received a number of important upgrades: a ceramic bezel ring, an updated bracelet, and increased water resistance. The brand now introduces the first new dial in the permanent lineup - a matte green one, giving the model an almost military style. This is an excellent option for Oris fans looking to diversify their collection, offering an alternative to the three existing standard versions.

History and Impressions of the Oris Divers Date

Upon first acquaintance with the Oris Divers Date in October 2024, the watch made a strong impression on me. Over a decade, the Divers Sixty-Five became a public favorite, and improving such a beloved model was no easy task. Nevertheless, the Oris team successfully redesigned and updated the technical specifications. Key changes include a new case design, a more scratch-resistant bezel ring, and an improved bracelet. The result is a modern version that seamlessly continues the story of the Divers Sixty-Five. The first three models featured black, blue, and beige dials, and now they are joined by a version with a green matte dial.

Technical Specifications of the New Model with Green Dial

To remind you, let's review the main parameters of the new model. The case is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 39 mm, a thickness of 12.1 mm (including the domed sapphire crystal), and a lug-to-lug length of 46 mm. The case finish is predominantly vertically satin-finished with polished case back and sides. Thanks to the updated design, water resistance has been increased from 100 meters in the Divers Sixty-Five to 200 meters in the Divers Date.

The top of the case features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black ceramic insert and a 60-minute scale. Unlike the Divers Sixty-Five with a full set of divisions, the Divers Date has markers only for the first 15 minutes. The matte green dial is adorned with applied hour indices with white luminescent Super-LumiNova. The date window is located at the 6 o'clock position; the white disc with black numbers harmoniously matches the markers. The three hands are also coated with white lume, glowing blue, ensuring excellent readability in the dark.

Oris 733 Movement

The sapphire crystal case back showcases the Oris 733 caliber - an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW200-1 with 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a power reserve of 41 hours. The movement features manual winding, a hacking function, and Oris's signature red rotor. In the future, a model with Oris's proprietary caliber 400 is expected, but the Sellita 733 allows for an affordable price and easy maintenance.

Bracelet and Strap Options

The watch comes with a slim riveted bracelet that has been updated compared to the Divers Sixty-Five. It uses polished real rivets contrasting with satin-finished links, as well as quick-release spring bars. Additionally, a black rubber strap in Tropic style with a signature stainless steel clasp is included. This set allows for changing the model's appearance, making it sportier. Personally, I prefer the bracelet, but the ability to change straps expands the watch's functionality and aesthetics.

Final Impressions of the Model with Green Dial

Overall, I really like the new dial color scheme. It somewhat resembles the limited edition Divers Sixty-Five created by Oris in collaboration with Hodinkee in 2021. However, thanks to comprehensive updates, this model represents a modern and independent variation. The new green dial complements the lineup, offering Oris fans a fresh and harmonious color. Personally, my favorite from the initial trio was the blue dial, but now the green has become a close option for me.

The model with a matte green dial is already available for €2,450 / US$2,800 / £2,100. It is an important addition to Oris's retro diver series, and it will be interesting to see if other dial designs appear in the future. Hopefully, they won't take another two years. The Divers Date looks so successful that it is perfectly suited for many color solutions. For now, the green dial is the optimal next step in the development of this series.
