A new release for the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's historical flight into space.
Raketa has unveiled a new watch for astronauts, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. The main feature of the new model is a 24-hour display with a contrasting division of the dial into day and night. This function helps track time on the ISS without confusing day/night cycles.
Another important function is the second time zone display, controlled by an additional crown. This option helps track Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the time used on the ISS, and Earth time.
A solar compass is located on the rotating disc around the outer perimeter of the dial. It will help the astronaut orient themselves in case their craft lands off course and the electronic compass fails.
The watch is presented in a stainless steel case measuring 42 x 14.05 mm. It features a sapphire crystal on the dial side and a mineral crystal on the case back. The hands and the 24-hour scale are illuminated with Superluminova.
Inside the model is the caliber 2624SA - a movement with bidirectional automatic winding. Since automatic winding is inconvenient in zero gravity, and constant manual winding wears out the mechanism, the movement includes a feature to disable the automatic winding unit. The rotor is decorated with constellations. Accuracy is -10+20 seconds per day. Power reserve is about 40 hours.
The watch comes with a nylon strap with a Velcro fastener. A leather strap is offered as an alternative. Water resistance is 200 meters. The estimated price is €2,400.
