The revived collection of the iconic Universal Genève chronographs features 2 vintage-style models and 4 more modern designs with vibrant dials.

The Swiss watch brand Universal Genève, revived by Breitling at the end of 2023, is strongly associated in the minds of watch enthusiasts with two models: the Polerouter and the Compax chronograph. From the 1930s to the 1950s, the company name was synonymous with the term 'chronograph'. It is no surprise that the series of new releases this spring by Universal Genève includes 6 new Compax models.

One of the chronographs in this series is inspired by the iconic 'Nina Rindt' model. This classic 'panda' style model earned its nickname because, in the mid-20th century, it was frequently worn by the Finnish model Nina Rindt - the wife of Austrian racer and Formula 1 champion Jochen Rindt.

Inside the watch is the in-house UG-200 caliber, only 6.63 mm thick. This movement features a micro-rotor automatic winding system, operates at a balance frequency of 4 Hz, and provides a 72-hour power reserve. The mechanism is visible through a transparent case back.

Another vintage-style model is the 'reverse panda' with bright red hands. While the 'Nina Rindt' model comes with a leather strap with a wristband, this model is equipped with a steel bracelet inspired by the vintage style of Gay Frères.

The third model in the Compax Prêt-à-Porter series features a rose gold case, a blue dial, and a blue leather strap. All three have cases measuring 39.5 x 12.45 mm with a lug-to-lug distance of 47.8 mm. The bezels are ceramic.

The remaining 3 models in the collection are part of the Capsule Compax series and are crafted in a more modern style. These watches feature steel and rose gold cases of the same size as the Prêt-à-Porter models.

The dial colors include indigo (in a steel case), sage green, and lavender. The dial pattern mimics linen fabric. The bezel is made of steel or rose gold and is fitted with a sapphire glass insert.

The estimated prices are CHF 15,500 (steel models on a strap), CHF 17,000 (steel on a bracelet), and CHF 39,900 (rose gold models).
