Key Takeaways

  • Explore a diverse range of luxury sport watches with integrated bracelets.
  • Discover unique designs and complex movements from top watchmakers.
  • Find options that fit various budgets from brands like Citizen and Tissot.

The segment of luxury sport watches, the most popular and sought-after type of watch in the industry for several years, is bubbling with new interesting releases beyond the 'holy trinity'. If you're ready to look beyond the usual models, you'll have plenty of options to choose from, ranging from budget watches by major manufacturers to high-end complex models from independent watchmakers. In today's 'Buyer's Guide', we've included six of the most intriguing new sport watches with integrated bracelets for 2021.

CITIZEN 'THE CITIZEN' CALIBER 0200

Earlier this year, Citizen impressed us with its refreshing take on the concept of luxury sport watches with an integrated bracelet. The Citizen 'The Citizen' Caliber 0200 features a sharp and crisp steel case with a matte finish alternating with polished edges. The black dial with an asphalt-like texture and a small seconds subdial has a very fine concentric pattern. The watch is equipped with its own Citizen Caliber 0200 movement, developed in collaboration with the movement makers of Citizen's subsidiary - La Joux-Perret. This movement is far from resembling Citizen's entry-level movements, showcasing reliability, precision, and high-end finishing technologies. Caliber 0200 is a high-tech automatic movement with very commendable technical specifications, operating within chronometric standards.

FREDERIQUE CONSTANT HIGHLIFE WORLDTIMER MANUFACTURE

When it comes to (relatively) affordable luxury watches, Frederique Constant cannot be overlooked. With the successful Highlife collection, the company has created beautiful sport watches available in many guises. One of the most interesting models is the Frederique Constant Highlife Worldtimer Manufacture. In a tonneau-shaped stainless steel case, secured on an integrated bracelet, lies the in-house movement FC-718. It drives the central hours, minutes, and seconds, as well as a date pointer at the '6 o'clock' position, a rotating city disc, and a 24-hour disc. The dial is done in deep blue with contrasting white print, applied indices, and a globe decoration in the center.

H. MOSER & CIE STREAMLINER PERPETUAL CALENDAR

Although it might not seem so at first glance, the H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Perpetual Calendar is the most complex model on this list. As always with H. Moser & Cie, it's a lesson in simplification. It showcases the brand's typical style: a grey smoke dial, with indicators cluttering the watch as little as possible. Perpetual calendar indicators include an offset date at the '4 o'clock' position, a thin month indication via a small hand located in the center, and a leap year indicator on the back of the movement. The rounded cushion-shaped case almost seamlessly transitions into the integrated bracelet. The HMC 812 hand-wound caliber has a modern finish to compensate for the retro 70s style of the case and bracelet. It is equipped with a double barrel, providing an impressive 168-hour power reserve. The escapement is fitted with an in-house hairspring.

LANG & HEYNE HEKTOR

First and foremost, we usually try to include in our buying guides only those watches that we have seen in person, but the Lang & Heyne Hektor surprised us earlier this week and sparked great curiosity. We are eager to see them in metal and examine all the details in a practical review. Lang & Heyne Hektor is the latest entrant in this very popular category and looks like a high-class alternative. It stands out from others, is original, intrigues, and uses a rather unconventional movement. The stainless steel case has a refined shape with distinct protruding segments on the left and right sides, with the latter protecting the crown. The dial is quite unexpected, with a repeating 'broom' pattern, concentric grooves, shaped markers, classic hands, and an aperture revealing parts of the movement. The UWD 33.2 caliber is a slight departure from Lang & Heyne's traditional style. Produced by the related company UWD, this hand-wound caliber has a modern design and several intriguing features.

PARMIGIANI FLEURIER TONDA PF MICRO-ROTOR

Another new contender in this field is the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF collection, featuring this rather beautiful Tonda PF Micro-Rotor model. It meets all the key requirements for luxury sport watches with an integrated bracelet, and we recently found out just how good it is. The answer is simple and clear: yes, it's good! The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor aims to be one of the best options in this category. The case has a refined shape, with teardrop lugs that beautifully transition into the bracelet. The thin knurled platinum bezel adds texture to the matte and polished steel case. The dial is very clean, with minimal distractions. The anthracite-grey dial is enlivened by the finest barleycorn guilloché pattern. The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Micro-Rotor is equipped with the automatic Calibre PF703 movement with a platinum micro-rotor.

TISSOT PRX POWERMATIC 80

Arguably the hottest release in the category of sport watches with integrated bracelets this year is the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. Initially introduced as a quartz model, the mechanical PRX collection soon followed. The watches are styled after vintage Tissot models from the 70s, like many others in this segment. Reflecting the essence of what sport watches with integrated bracelets should be, the PRX represents an incredible collection in terms of price and quality. The 40 mm steel case looks simply good and comes with a black, blue, or white waffle-textured dial. The Powermatic 80 movement, an upgraded ETA 2824-2, is equipped with an anti-magnetic Nivachron spring and provides an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Considering all this and the starting price of just 650 euros, it's no wonder people are flocking to these watches.
